CW Academy Courses – New Training Cycle (May 2026)

CW Academy Courses – New Training Cycle (May 2026)

Learning and progressing in Morse code is not just a technical skill. It is a process that requires consistency, focus, and structured practice, while at the same time offering real satisfaction and a deeper connection to the world of amateur radio.

With this philosophy in mind, RAAWG announces the launch of a new CW Academy training cycle, which will begin in May 2026 and will be conducted entirely online.

What is CW Academy?

CW Academy is an initiative of the CW Operators’ Club (CWops) and is considered one of the most comprehensive CW training programs worldwide.

It is based on:

  • a structured learning methodology
  • small group sessions
  • guidance from experienced instructors (Advisors)
  • daily practice following a specific plan

Through this approach, it has helped thousands of amateur radio operators learn Morse code and significantly improve their speed, accuracy, and overall proficiency in CW.

CW Academy in Greece

In Greece, the program is implemented under the auspices and with the support of the Radio Amateur Association of Western Greece (RAAWG), with contributions from experienced operators within the community.

It was initiated by Manos Chalaris SV1DAY and is currently coordinated by Giannis Martsoukakis SV1PMQ, who serves as the program’s training coordinator.

Previous training cycles have delivered very positive results, with most participants making significant progress and actively using CW in practice. Many of them now also participate as CW operators at the SZ1A contest station.

Who is it for?

The new training cycle is aimed at amateur radio operators who:

  • already have a solid knowledge of CW (20+ WPM)
  • want to further improve their speed and accuracy
  • seek greater confidence and fluency in using CW
  • have practiced CW in the past and wish to return to a high level

This specific program is at the Advanced level. For those without prior CW experience, a Beginner course will be offered later this year, designed for those who want to start learning Morse code from scratch.

Structure and Duration

The program has the following characteristics:

  • Start: May 2026
  • Duration: 2 months
  • Total sessions: 16
  • Frequency: 2 sessions per week
  • Format: Online sessions with instructor guidance

Participation requires consistency and daily practice, as the program is demanding but highly effective.

Before Applying

Before joining the program, an informational session will be held by the instructor, during which the following will be presented:

  • the structure and philosophy of CW Academy
  • the course curriculum
  • the practice tools
  • the required equipment
  • the expected study time

This session is essential to ensure that participants fully understand the requirements of the program.

Expression of Interest

Those interested can get in touch as soon as possible:

Email: erdesz1a@gmail.com
Phone: +30 6932640473 (Giannis SV1PMQ)
Contact Email: sv1pmq@gmail.com

Applications will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to members of RAAWG, followed by members of the broader SZ1A community.

Closing

CW Academy is not just a simple seminar. It is a structured training program that requires commitment, but delivers measurable progress to those who follow it consistently.

If you want to meaningfully improve your CW skills and gain greater confidence in using it, this training cycle is an excellent opportunity.

At the same time, a new Beginner course is planned for later this year, aimed at those who want to start learning Morse code from scratch.
