Team SZ1A Kicks Off Contest Season Action!

It’s time for CQ WW RTTY! This weekend, the SZ1A contest station will be on the air, giving out 599 20 from CQ Zone 20.

The CQ World Wide RTTY DX Contest is the world’s largest RTTY competition, bringing together radio amateurs from every continent. The goal is simple: make as many contacts as possible with as many different countries and CQ Zones as you can. It’s a true test of both operator skill and station performance in the digital arena.

After a summer hiatus, Team SZ1A is warming up again, testing equipment, and getting ready to kick off the new contest season in full force.

Operators for this year’s CQ WW RTTY include SV1JG, SV1DPI, SV1CIB, SV3SCW, and SV1BDO.

The effort is also supported by the wider SZ1A team: SV1CQK, SV1CQG, SV1RLC, SV1TIQ, SV1RRX, SV1TBW, SV1DPJ, SV1DKD, SV1CDN, SV1CQM, SV1HKH, SY1EDF, SY1DOB, SV1RK and many more friends, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

📌 Rule Differences from CQWW SSB/CW Contests

The RTTY rules are nearly identical to the SSB and CW events, but there are some key differences:

  • No 1.8 MHz operation
  • Multi-Single: 8 band-changes per clock hour, rather than a 10-minute rule
  • Contact points: Different-country contacts within any continent (not just North America) get 2 points
  • Same-country contacts get 1 point
  • Third multiplier for QSOs with US/VE stations

👉 You can view the full rules in English here: CQ WW RTTY Rules

📡 The contest runs from 0000Z Sep 27 to 2400Z Sep 28, on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters. Exchange is RST + CQ Zone.

If you hear us on the bands, give us a call—and a spot if you can (but only after you work us 😉).

Good luck to all participants!
