Annual New Year’s “Pie”

On Sunday, 16th of February 2020, in the presence of many friends and members, RAAWG, had the official “cutting of the new year’s cake” ceremony. This annual “cutting of the cake” is a national tradition deeply rooted in Christianity. The cake which is offered as a form of pilgrimage, is vested to bring good fortune and blessings to all that consume it.

This year, the cake was blessed by Father Konstantinos Gioldasis, SV1RLA, who besides being an active fellow amateur radio operator is also a member of our organization. The lucky winner of the event, was a member of the board of directors, Sotiris Moutopoulos, SV1RRX.

Note that the whole event took place while Dimitris SV1CIB was actively participating in the CQ WPX RTTY Contest!

The ceremony took place outside, in the front yard of the station, since it was a beautiful and sunny day! Looking forward to next year!
