Yesterday, Sunday, February 2, 2025, was a day of celebration for the members of the Radio Amateur Association of Western Greece – SZ1A, their families and friends, as the tradition of the cutting of the New Year’s Cake (Vasilopita) for 2025 took place, while an award ceremony was held for the selfless contribution of members to the goals of the Association.
This small celebration, which was attended by more than 50 Radio Amateurs, relatives and friends, took place in a restaurant near Agrinio and started with the blessing of the Vasilopita by the father Konstantinos (SV1RLA), who wished everyone “happy new year, health above all and good QSOs”.
Then the President of RAAWG Thanasis Kapsalis SV1CQK together with the Secretary General Kostas Stamatis SV1DPI presented commemorative plaques to Spyros Molonis SV1CQM and Sotiris Patlias SV1TIQ for their voluntary contributions to the Association during the years 2023 and 2024 respectively.
At the same time, we welcomed the new Radio Amateur members of RAAWG, who passed the recent licensing exams, Tasos Fanariotis SY1ERA, George Tsolkas SV1TLY and Kostas Katsadas SV1TNE.
Lunch followed with the Vasilopita being offered as dessert.
“The lucky one” in finding the “lucky coin” was Panos Lambrakopoulos SV1HKH, former President of RAAWG, who won an iambic Morse key, offered by Alexandros Pangrakiotis SV1TAY, whom we thank very much.
The Executive Board and the members of the Radio Amateur Association of Western Greece wish everyone a happy and creative year, with health, joy, and “communication”!
