R-ally X-pert… at full RX!

*RX at Full: Because we spent most of the time listening!

Yes, because only I can.

On the weekend of March 15–16 2025, our club took on the communication support for the 1st “Anavasi Agriniou”, a challenging rally-style mountain car race. After a request from the organizing club FIL.M.A.A. and a unanimous decision by our board of directors, the project was already set up for success.

“We’ll do what we do best: Communicate!”

The race location lacked sufficient mobile coverage, which could have forced cancellation. But under the leadership of SV1TBW Dimitris Providas and a team of always-ready radio amateurs, we restored communication where it was needed most.

The first stage ran smoothly with minimal interventions. During the second stage, one of the fastest drivers veered off, resulting in a DNF. Thankfully, the driver was unharmed, though the vehicle suffered damage. In between, there was some friendly chatter on another frequency… just because we could.

The result? A flawless operation. Organizers, judges, and race officials all agreed:

“We’ve never had such perfect communication in a race before!”

At the award ceremony, our club received a medal for our outstanding support and communication coverage. The event closed with a reception featuring fine food and great atmosphere.

Saturday began at 9:00 a.m. with timed trials. Everyone took their assigned posts, and communication was fully restored. On Sunday, the main race day, we were all tuned to 145.400 MHz, with a backup UHF link on standby. With SV1DPI and SY1EHH overseeing operations, all operators were in position with radios on standby and safety gear in place.

A quick test confirmed crystal-clear modulation—and the race was on.

It was a beautiful event. Everyone enjoyed it, and it clearly showed the value of amateur radio and the spirit of those who serve it.

In the spirit of amateur radio, we sincerely thank:

SV1TIQ, SV1DPI, SY1EHH, SV1CQK, SV1CQG, SY1EDG, SY1ERB, SV1RRX, SV1DPJ, SV1RLC, SV1TNE, SV1HKV, SV1HLB, SV1HKH, SV1CQM, SV1SN, SY1DOB, SY1BCS, SY1EDF, SY1ERW, SV1TBY, and of course, our coordination lead SV1TBW for his tireless field tests and precision setup.

Everyone was amazing. See you next year!
